Battlefront 2 is possibly my most anticipated game of this year, so I’m extremely excited that EA has announced details on their upcoming open beta plans. Starting October 6th, players can hop into Star Wars to see how the game plays and feels; this will run until October 9th. However, if you’ve pre-ordered, you’ll be able to access the beta two days earlier on October 4th.
Giving us information over on an EA blog post, there will be two playable game modes available for the open beta. Firstly, players will be able to jump into the Galactic Assault on Naboo, a huge 40-player match will which dominate the streets of Theed; this was shown at the E3 demonstration. You’ll be sliding into the boots of either the Separatist Droids or Republic Clones as you try to turn the tides on the enemy. Class wise, there’ll be four options to choose from; Assault, Heavy, Officer or Specialists, all having different skills and abilities from each other. The 2015 Battlefront didn’t feature any Droid or prequel film content, so it’s exciting to see EA pushing back into the roots.
Other than that, the beta will also offer an opportunity to start “piloting an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships“, in a Multiplayer Starfighter Assault match. There aren’t any more details currently available, apart from the below quote, so we’ll just have to see what else the game has on offer for us. Space battles were a huge request to be included in the 2015 Battlefront, so it’s great to see that the fans have been listened to and fully fledged battles are happening.
“We’re not sharing all the details around this yet, but we can tell you that you’ll be able to take part in an epic starfighter assault set during the original trilogy era, piloting an assortment of Star Wars’ greatest ships in an objective-based, multi-stage battle. You’ll be learning much more about starfighters in Star Wars Battlefront II at Gamescom.”
